Frequently asked questions.
How can I make a tattoo appointment?
Please fill out our tattoo questionnaire and we will reach out to you about your inquiry. From there we will set up a consultation appointment to go over specific details and pricing. If you wish to make a tattoo appointment with us, we will require a non-refundable deposit. The amount of the deposit varies based on the hours of work we planned out.
How do I take care of my new ink?
For the next two weeks, wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day with antibacterial soap and water. Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Apply a thin layer of ointment after each wash. Too much ointment can result in skin irritation so it’s important to apply a thin layer. Make sure your hands are clean before you wash your tattoo. During your two-week healing period, do not pick or scratch the tattoo, do not submerge in water or expose the tattoo to direct sunlight. If you have any questions during your healing, don’t hesitate to contact your tattoo artist! We are here to help!
How can I prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Make sure you’ve eaten well and have hydrated plenty the day before your appointment. For an optimal tattoo experience, you may hydrate the area being tattooed by applying lotion a week prior to your appointment. Do your best to keep the area being tattooed out of direct sun exposure. We cannot tattoo over sunburned skin. If you are here on vacation, you may want to plan your tattoo towards the end of your trip. You may bring any snacks, meals or anything that will make you comfortable. Pillows and blankets are welcome! Tattoo ink does not come off of clothing so please wear something comfortable and appropriate. If specific instructions are necessary, your artist will let you know.
What can clients expect when they get tattoos at Viva?
We are a private tattoo studio. Our clients experience comfort getting their tattoo in a calm, relaxed environment. We keep our doors locked to respect this privacy and focus solely on the client being tattooed.
How to sit for a long tattoo session?
It’s all a mental game! The more you focus on the pain the more you will feel it. Distractions are a must! Everyone gets into their zone differently. Some need to talk it out, others need silence and breathing. Some just binge on their favorite series. Whatever you need, we are here to help and comfort you.
It’s my first time getting tattooed! How do I do this?
First things first, decide the basics: What do you want? What size do you want it? What style would you like it in? Then make sure you research tattoo artists that specialize in what you would like to get tattooed. Reach out to them and see if you vibe well. Never let a tattoo artist or loved one pressure you into getting something you don’t want! Tattoos can be inconvenient and expensive to remove or have covered up, so always take your time in making decisions!
Do you recommend clients bring a friend to their tattoo appointment?
To keep our studio calm and relaxed, we request that clients come alone to their appointments. Friends and family can sometimes add unwanted stress or unnecessary pressure to rush the tattoo process. Good tattoos are never rushed or impulsive. Snacks, drinks, pillows and blankets are welcome! Our client’s comfort is a top priority for us at Viva Tattoo Studio.
Why do you require a deposit to schedule a tattoo appointment?
We earn a living solely from tattooing. It can be frustrating to have no shows. For this reason, deposits are non-refundable. The deposit amount varies on the intricacy of the design as well as the experience of the tattoo artist. We take pride in our designs and deserve to be compensated for our time.
What if I need to reschedule my tattoo appointment?
Each artist makes their own schedule so please contact your tattoo artist to reschedule. If your tattoo appointment is within 48 hours, your deposit will be forfeited.
